Verizon GMC 2500 Hybrid Conversion
DTI Engineering worked with its client to prototype and install their parallel hybrid propulsion system into a GMC 2500 service van for the global telecommunication provider, Verizon. With our conveniently located facility in Phoenix, AZ, we were able to work directly with the end user’s fleet team to provide vehicle delivery logistics to and from their base of operation in California.
DTI Engineering managed and executed the entire conversion process. This included design and physical mounting of the hybrid components in a way that was not only structurally sound but without compromising vehicle safety or performance. DTI Engineering managed parts procurement, fabrication and modification of various components. We also designed, built and installed the complete wiring harness including documentation and performed structural fabrication, as well as provided system validation, road testing, and tuning.
Installation of the system utilized our knowledge of:
- Electric and Hybrid Vehicle drivetrain and electrical systems
- SAE High voltage safety installation
- CAN communication protocol
- Wiring diagram design and creation tools
- Structural analysis, fabrication and design tools
